Faculty Position in Experimental Physics The University of Arizona - Department of Physics The Physics Department at the University of Arizona is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track or tenured experimental physics faculty position in the interdisciplinary research area of photonics. We encourage applications from highly qualified researchers whose work cuts across the boundaries of physics, materials research, and optics. The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, emerging topics in photonics, such as, nanophotonics (including nano-biophotonics), metamaterials, organic semiconductors, new photovoltaic materials/processes and quantum dynamics in novel materials. The successful applicant will benefit from the strong ties that exist between the Departments of Physics, Chemistry and the College of Optical Sciences. The synergistic activities between these units in the fields of solar energy, nanotechnology, semiconductors, molecular physics and quantum optics have made the University of Arizona a major center for photonics research. Hire will be made at the Assistant Professor level, but tenured Associate Professor will be considered for particularly qualified applicants. Start-up packages will be provided to the successful candidate. This position is expected to start in Fall of 2010. Review of applications will begin on Dec 1, 2009.
