Spelman College seeks teacher/scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching and to the continued enhancement of the scholarly environment for students and colleagues. Founded in 1881, Spelman College is a private four-year liberal arts college located in Atlanta, GA. The oldest historically Black college for women in the United States, Spelman is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education. All candidates are expected to have a demonstrated interest in liberal arts and sciences education, be able to contribute effectively to undergraduate teaching, and aid in curriculum development. Lecturer of Physics Responsibilities include: Teach introductory lectures, recitation and labs. The Physics department is committed to reforming its courses with research-based and innovative pedagogy, including alternative formats for lecture and laboratory sessions. This position is a full time appointment for the spring 2010 semester only. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics, (ABD is acceptable if defending this year) and teaching experience is desired.
