The Department of Physics at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks applications for several tenure-track assistant/associate professor positions in experimental nanophysics with emphasis in the fundamental science of nano- and materials-physics as applied to energy or biological physics. Exceptional applicants may be considered for more senior appointment. Applicants must have a PhD in physics or a closely related field at the time of appointment, an outstanding record of research accomplishments with clear potential to establish a vigorous, externally funded, research program, and show a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Expertise in experimental nano-, materials- or nanobio-physics is considered essential. Demonstrated experience in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment is desired. ASU is aggressively expanding its energy-related research initiatives and fosters multi-disciplinary interactions through the Arizona Institute for Renewable Energy. The Department of Physics is home to the Center for Biological Physics with a strong program in biophysics. ASU is also home to the John M. Cowley Center for High Resolution Electron Microscopy and has shared facilities for synthesis, fabrication and characterization of nanostructures within the Center for Solid State Electronics Research and the LeRoy Eyring Center for Solid State Science. It is anticipated that the candidate will play an active role in one or more of these centers. Complete applications will include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching plans, and contact information for three references (postal, email, and phone). Materials should be submitted electronically at http://physics.asu.edu/employment.php.
