: The Electrical Models and Simulation Department is seeking a Computational Scientist/Engineer to develop novel compact models of modern semiconductor devices with an emphasis on the modeling of their response in extreme environments\. All developed models are to be implemented in Sandia's in\-house circuit simulator, Xyce\. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in model compiler and simulator code design and development, pursuant to efficient compact model implementation\. The candidate will be part of the Xyce simulator code development team, which conducts research into modern parallel and multi\-core computing, scalable solver algorithms, and compact modeling techniques\. Opportunities to collaborate exist with neighboring departments and research groups, including Sandia's in\-house TCAD and EM simulation codes\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Research, develop, and Implement compact models of semiconductor components, for circuit and/or related network simulation problems+ Develop and support model compiler development+ Develop, integrate and support software solutions and methods in production simulation tools+ Design and implement these models for general and extensible use in C\+\+ object\-oriented toolkits and/or libraries+ Prepare peer\-reviewed conference and journal papers Required: + Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent with emphasis on model development and three years of experience+ Background in semiconductor device modeling \(particularly compact models\) and/or electromagnetic effects\.+ Experience with advanced scientific programming languages such as C and/or C\+\+ and scripting languages such as Python\.+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance Desired: + PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent with emphasis on application\-specific numerical methods+ A demonstrated ability to develop and communicate ideas and results in oral and written form and to work in a team environment+ Strong understanding of numerical algorithms for circuit simulation, including transient, harmonic balance, noise and various types of Uncertainty Quantification \(UQ\)+ Strong object\-oriented software design skills, including advanced C\+\+ programming skills+ Experience with high performance and parallel computation concepts \(e\.g\. distributed and shared memory, multithreading, OpenMP, MPI\+X\+Y, CUDA\)+ Experience using formal software engineering processes \(particularly Agile processes\)+ Experience utilizing component software libraries for scientific software development+ A demonstrated ability to lead and direct research projects Department Description: The Electrical Models and Simulation Department \(1355\) supports electrical circuit and device simulation through the development of customized modeling & simulation tools for electronic design, analysis and qualification\. The application codes \(Xyce and Charon\) developed within our department incorporate state\-of\-the\-art numerical algorithms and validated physics\-based models\.
