The Department of Physics seeks a highly motivated person for the position of Laboratory Manager to begin on August 15, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter. The principal responsibility is for the day-to-day operation of undergraduate teaching laboratories. Specific duties include: (1) developing and maintaining lab equipment, including computers and interfaces; (2) preparing and setting the apparatus for each experiment; (3) working with the Laboratory Director to ensure smooth operation of introductory labs, including instructional support and assistance in training and supervising laboratory Teaching Assistants; (4) assisting with sophomore level labs for physics majors; (5) developing and preparing new experiments as well as lecture demonstration equipment. Applicants should have a Master’s degree or higher in physics or a closely related field, knowledge of experimental techniques, experience in handling physics apparatus, and proficiency with computers. Good interpersonal skills and dedication to teaching physics are essential. This is a full time position, with regular benefits and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
